The artists' book publishing house is a project by Estefanía Papescu. She is interested in the small pieces of research, notes, and drawings that an artist or writer may consider unpublishable or think will never leave the domestic sphere, but which often prove to be foundational for works that ultimately circulate within the art system or simply remain as suspended projects, but no less poetic for that. These are the projects that take priority for this publishing house, the kitchen of artists and writers.
The books and notebooks handmade by Argentine visual artists and writers are unique objects, unique to a moment, a moment of distraction, or archived for years. They are a special micro-world, prior to the creation of any work and, in turn, becoming one. These are often known or seen when the artists or writers die. At the publishing house, we ask ourselves:
To avoid silence, the publisher is planning several collective presentations by artists and writers, and several by a single artist, to also follow the careers of these selected artists in a parallel format, that of books.
At the same time, to achieve greater circulation and accessibility, in addition to various printed experiments by the artists, facsimiles of these books and notebooks have begun to be produced. With the creation of this website, in addition to a visibility and sales platform for this new market created by the publisher for the artists, the first archive of books by Argentine artists is achieved.
